Residence and tax-residence planning

Residence and tax residence

A residence permit is a legal status; tax residence is a separate outcome. BDA coordinates both questions together, so the permit, the company and your real living pattern point in the same direction.

Who this is for

Fit and deliverables

Founders, investors and families who plan to live in another country, or who already hold a permit and want to understand whether their tax position has actually changed. It works best when the move is real: a home, time spent in the country and a credible reason to be there.

When this is not appropriate

  • You do not intend to spend real time in the new country
  • You need a guaranteed tax outcome

What BDA coordinates

  • Residence-permit coordination
  • Tax-residence assessment with specialists
  • Family members and documents
  • Coordination with company setup

Typically included

  • Route comparison and eligibility check
  • Document list, translations and appointments coordination
  • Alignment with company and banking work
Options and costs

Selected starting prices

Indicative fees for professional work in the simplest eligible case.

A residence permit does not automatically change tax residence. The result depends on the rules of the country being left, physical presence, home, family, economic interests and applicable tax treaties.

All starting prices

Starting prices are indicative and apply to the simplest eligible case. The final fee depends on jurisdiction, activity, ownership, KYC/AML profile, banking requirements and third-party work. The written proposal identifies professional fees, government fees, annual costs and exclusions before payment. Bank and regulator decisions cannot be guaranteed.

Typically excluded

  • Government, registry and regulator fees unless the written proposal confirms them
  • Annual renewals, accounting and audit
  • Legal or tax opinions from independent specialists, when needed
  • Translations, apostilles and courier costs

Key dependencies and risks

  • Exit rules of your current country
  • Physical-presence and renewal conditions
  • Rules and processing times change

Practical questions

Does a residence permit make me tax resident there?

Not automatically. Tax residence depends on the rules of the country you leave and the new one: physical presence, home, family, economic interests and tax treaties.

Is the Georgia business + residence package the same as residence only?

No. The package (from €4,870) combines a company with a residence process; residence-only routes start from €2,790 and are assessed separately.

Can my family be included?

Often yes, depending on the country. Each family member requires documents and is quoted in the written proposal.

Do I need to live in the country?

Many permits carry presence or renewal conditions, and tax residence usually needs real presence. We set these out before you commit.

Why is Switzerland priced differently?

Swiss residence for non-EU nationals is typically linked to cantonal assessment and a wealth or tax arrangement, which requires significantly more specialist work.
